Progress update:

A report on The public benefits of historic farm building and drystone wall repairs in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, by the Agricultural Development Advisory Service (ADAS) and the University of Gloucestershire was published in June 2007.  The study, funded by English Heritage and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), showed that between 1998-2004, grants of over £6,700,000 had led to the restoration of over 500 traditional farm buildings and 190km of drystone wall – and created 74 jobs in the local area.  Nationally, English Heritage and Cadw have commissioned a scoping study to identify the knowledge and research base relating to the socio-economic benefits of heritage within National Parks.
