Develop a research strategy for the historic environment of the Yorkshire Dales by 2009, and use it to target and encourage programmes of survey and research, including work by local archaeology and history groups and individual specialists.

Progress update:
Discussions have begun with the Yorkshire Dales Historic Environment Group regarding the scope and content of a historic environment research strategy. The existing Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Historic Environment Strategy has been reassessed and an initial assessment is underway of all research reports incorporated as hard copy in the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s Historic Environment Record (HER) since 1988. Examples of other local historic environment research strategies are being collected.
