Progress update:
2009/10 saw the introduction of three new programmes providing funding for improving access to services. The two European Union LEADER programmes (for the Cumbria Fells and Dales, and the Yorkshire Dales) and the North Yorkshire Rural Access to Opportunities Programme have supported dual or multi-functional projects offering a range of community services at Clapham, Burnsall, Middleham and Hudswell. A Craven Volunteer Driver Car Scheme covering the whole of Craven is also to be established.
'Connecting North Yorkshire' is a partnership project led by North Yorkshire County Council to achieve high quality broadband to all businesses and citizens in North Yorkshire, including the National Park, by 2017. The Government has confirmed that North Yorkshire and York is to receive over £17m to help provide better quality broadband access.
