Progress update CC3

By 2011 develop and implement eight walking/cycling routes, each of which links one of the surrounding villages to the local service centres of Grassington, Skipton, Settle, Ingleton, Sedbergh, Hawes, Leyburn and Richmond, so that essential facilities and services can be accessed easily and safely on foot or by bicycle.

Progress update:

In partnership with the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Park Authorities, Cumbria County Council produced a Rights of Way improvement Plan for Cumbria. This has identified a number of walking/cycling route improvements in the Sedbergh area.

Various schemes have been proposed through North Yorkshire County Council's Local Service Centre Strategies. Implemented schemes are: Settle Riverside project connecting Giggleswick, Sedbergh footpath improvements as part of Auction Mart developement, Stainforth to Settle using Way of the Roses, opening up of Applegarth bridleway into Richmond.
