Progress update:

Cumbria County Council

Cumbria County Council has identified pilot “quiet lane” projects for implementation in the county however the pilots are not in the Yorkshire Dales National Park area.  A network of rights of way, walking routes, cycle routes is being developed through area transport plans and the implementation of the Rights of Way Improvement Plans.

North Yorkshire County Council

Quiet Lanes are a tool in the kit of measures which are available to North Yorkshire Highway Authority for enhancing the experience of highway users in areas of natural beauty.  While North Yorkshire County Council do not proactively identify routes for designation, it is prepared to consider any requests or suggestions which are received either through other organisations such as the National Park Authority or via the consultation process linked to the development of the Service Centre Transportation Strategies.
