Progress update:

Rights of Way Improvement Plans (RoWIP) produced

Both highway authorities (Cumbria and North Yorkshire County Councils) have now produced rights of way improvement plans for their area in partnership with the National Park Authority.  In drawing up the plans the needs of all types of user (including latent users), both locals and visitors and for now and into the future were considered.  Each RoWIP has a Statement of Actions which represents planned improvements to the network of local rights of way.  To date, no additional funding has been made available by government to implement the proposals, and limited progress has been made in implementing the action plan beyond that possible to achieve with existing resources.
