Listed buildings
There are currently 1,700 listed buildings in the National Park - specifically listed to protect the special architectural or historic importance of the building.
If you want to make any internal or external alterations to a listed building, it is very likely that you will require listed building consent from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. Some planning advice for listed buildings is provided in the document downloadable below:
Visit the Leaflets and forms page where you can submit an application through the planning portal or download an application form for listed building consent.
To find out if your building is listed or for free advice on listed building consent, email planning@yorkshiredales.org.uk or call us on 01969 652345. Copies of listings can be viewed on the National Heritage List for England.
You can also visit the Listing buildings section of the English Heritage website, which provides a full range of information relating to listed buildings and the conservation of historic and traditional buildings.
