The Cavendish Shop is situated at the northern end of Sandholme car park, at the entrance to Strid Wood overlooking the river Wharfe. The shop offers an extensive range of giftware. Electric wheelchairs are available from the shop during the summer months for visitors to borrow. Light refreshment and lunch are available throughout the year from the Cavendish Pavillion which is next to the shop. Our staff are always pleased to help visitors and advise them as to what they can do on the Estate or in the area.
Opening times: Open everyday except Christmas Day from 10am to 6pm (or dusk during the winter months)

The Village Shop and Information Centre can be found at the top of Bolton Abbey car park. The shop offers an extensive range of giftware. The Post Office which is open Monday to Saturday (half day Tuesday and Saturday) is located within the shop. Light refreshments are available throughout the year. Our staff are always pleased to help visitors and advise them as to what they can do on the Estate or in the area.

Travel between the award winning station at Bolton Abbey and Embsay station. Steam trains every Sunday all year up to seven days a week in summer. Visits from Thomas the Tank Engine at Easter, Spring and August bank holidays, and Santa at Christmas. Visit Yorkshire's friendly line. Cafe and gift shop at both stations. Admission charge.

Hazel Brow is a 200 acre family run organic farm in the heart of Swaledale. Enjoy an interactive tour of the farm, meet and feed the animals. Chat to the farmer as he works and explains his jobs through the seasons. Visit us at lambing time and hopefully see a lamb being born - a magical experience. Watch our special sheep and lambing demonstrations in April - please phone to check times first. Other seasonal activities are held throughout the season. At our cafe try some of our delicious home-produced Swaledale fare and browse through our range of gifts in the shop.

A traditional village store still very much as it was when it first opened in 1877. We have a full range of groceries, newspapers, wines and spirits, maps, guide books, gifts and sandwiches. A large number of our products are made in Yorkshire. We also offer internet access. The shop was used as a set in the Calendar Girls film. Visitors are welcome to email or telephone orders for collection or delivery and we also offer a free delivery service in Wharfedale and Littondale on a fortnightly basis.

We are a small village shop along with full-time post office - probably the smallest in the Dales! On the shop side we stock all the basics we can think of, (and are always happy to take special orders) as we shop at Sainsbury's under the SAVE scheme which supports small shops such as ours. The Post Office is full-time and we are able to carry out most transactions as expected. At the hub of a pretty Dales village we also provide a good information and exchange point for local activities.

Over and Under is a family run business catering for both the serious walker and those who prefer to ramble in the Dales. Stocking good quality brands at reasonable prices to name a few. We care about customers and customers return to us. Although mainly a walking shop we do stock camping equipment and small amounts of cycle spares. Mail order is also available.
