Hay Time Events in August


Residentials

1 to 8 August :Grasses, Sedges and Rushes

Malham Tarn is an excellent area to study grasses, sedges and rushes. The course will concentrate on learning how to use keys to help recognise the species, and on seeing the plants in their habitats. Led by Judith Allinson. Organised by FSC Malham Tarn.

3 August: Rag rug making - 10am-4pm

Come and join Karen Griffiths and make a rag rug inspired by the meadows near the museum. Karen will supply hessian, tools and simple frames for you to use.

What you will need to bring: Sharp dressmaking scissors are essential. A variety of old clothes suitable for cutting up. Items such as felted lambswool, cotton t-shirts and silks are all suitable. 5 August: Redmire Force & High Lane - Guided Walk - 11.00am-4.30pm

A moderate 9.5 mile (15.3km) walk through lower Bishopdale meadows, returning overlooking three valleys. Meet at West Burton village green. Organised by YDNPA.

9 August: Create a Wildflower Garden at Home - 10.00am-1.00pm

13 August: Hay Meadow Moths - 8.00pm until late

A 6.5 mile (10.4km) generally easy walk through meadows to Gunnerside returning along part of the Corpse Way. Meet at Feetham church 5 miles west of Reeth on B6270. Organised by YDNPA.
