The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority organises a range of guided walks as part of its annual events programme. Many of them have either a nature conservation or cultural heritage theme. Guided walks are a great way to learn about the area and let someone else worry about the navigation. Many of them are free of charge and most are accessible by public transport.
You can search our programme of walks and other events by visiting the events section of the official Yorkshire Dales Holiday Website (link opens in new window).
Walks organised by the Authority cost £2 per adult but they are free for children and public transport users (please produce valid ticket).
The National Park is also home to two other organisations that run programmes of guided walks aimed particularly at public transport users: the Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line and the Dalesbus Ramblers.
Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line
The Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line organise a a comprehensive programme of guided walks on Saturdays, Sundays and occasional Wednesdays throughout the year. A leaflet containing details of walks from the Settle-Carlisle (website opens in new window) and Leeds-Morecambe railway lines is available.
