Microsoft Excel files

Accessing Microsoft Excel files

Microsoft Excel is a widely used spreadsheet application, and documents saved in Excel have the XLS extension.  Comma separated value files (CSV) are the spreadsheet equivalent of plain text - Excel can also open these documents. Both XLS and CSV files are marked with .

If you do not have the Excel software, you can view and print files using the Microsoft Excel Viewer.  This can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft website.

Please note that when you select a link to view a Microsoft Excel file in your web browser, the document will open in a new window.

Alternatives to Excel

If you need to edit data, save a spreadsheet or create a new file, an open source alternative is available with the Calc program, part of the Open Office suite of applications.  Being open source, Open Office is free to download, use and distribute.  It is compatible with all other major office suites.

If you have any difficulties in accessing XLS files or any other documents available on this website, please contact the Authority's Website Officer.
